Mr. Reed found Inayan Eskrima in late 2005 when a close friend, the late Katalungan Guro Sanders, introduced him to Tagaturo Steve Klement and the Inayan School of Eskrima.

After High School, Mr. Reed joined the United States Marine Corps and served from 1987 - 1991 and continued service as Inactive Reserve until 1995. As part of his active duty, Mr. Reed spent 18 months stationed in Guam (a Territory of the United States) as part of it’s Security Force. Soon after, Mr. Reed fought in the Gulf War (Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm).

Upon leaving active military service in 1991, Mr. Reed has been employed in various professional Security roles for local Hospitals and still serves as a first responder to this day.

Mr. Reed was one of the first members of the ISE’s full contact team, the Inayan Combatives Group. He has assisted Tagaturo Klement at various seminars and training events in California, Pennsylvania as well as Tennessee. While Mike was a Senior Student, he regularly assisted Tagaturo Klement and the Guros with instructing class and has led the class in basic Inayan training during informal workouts and training events. Mike is also Certified to teach edged weapon defense (Reactive Knife Defense) and subject control (Pressure Sensitive Nerve Areas) to Civilians and Law Enforcement alike. He has assisted in teaching local Law Enforcement Officers as well as High School Students enrolled in Criminal Justice programs.

After serious study of the art for more than 15 years, Mr. Reed was promoted to Inayan Guro (Teacher) on December 19th, 2020. Currently Guro Reed continues to practice and teach at the Inayan School of Eskrima under the direction of Tagaturo Steve Klement.
